New Hope for Shoppes at Victoria Square: Exciting Changes Ahead!
If you’ve been out and about in Merritt Island lately, you might have noticed some buzz around the Shoppes at Victoria Square. Well, hold onto your shopping bags because there’s big news! A local group has snagged this popular shopping destination for a cool $16 million, bringing promising changes to our beloved Brevard County retail scene.
Located just a stone’s throw from the Kennedy Space Center—about 50 miles east of Orlando—the Shoppes at Victoria Square boasts around 109,000 square feet of retail space. It’s home to fan-favorites like Burlington, Five Below, and Ulta Beauty, and was impressively 98 percent leased at the time of sale. That’s not just a win for shoppers; it also signifies that our local economy is thriving!
So, who’s behind this exciting new chapter? The purchase was made by a partnership that includes members of MHCommercial Real Estate Fund II, a Florida-based commercial real estate firm, along with several other local players. Local experts from Avison Young handled the transaction, ensuring everything went smoothly. With NAI Merin Hunter Codman stepping in to manage the center, we can expect a fresh approach to what has been a community staple.
This is actually the second investment by MHC Fund II in Merritt Island; they previously acquired Merritt Crossing, a grocery-anchored retail center, last year. It seems like they see the potential in our charming part of Florida, and it’s exciting to think about how this revitalization could enhance our shopping experiences while providing new job opportunities.
With these developments underway, it’s a great time to be a part of the Merritt Island community. Whether you’re a frequent shopper or simply someone who enjoys supporting local businesses, there’s a sense of optimism in the air. More options and possibly exciting new events could be on the horizon, making our neighborhood even more vibrant. What do you think, Space Coast? Drop your thoughts below.
