High-Speed Habit: A Wake-Up Call for the Space Coast Community
Just before the crack of dawn on March 29, 2026, one of our local heroes, Sgt. Miranda, was on patrol near North Atlantic Avenue and Esther Drive, when he spotted a black Mustang zooming by at an alarmingly reckless speed. Clocked at 98 MPH in a 35 MPH zone, this driver was pushing the limits—nearly three times the speed limit! It’s a troubling reminder that while we love a thrilling ride here on the Space Coast, safety must always reign supreme.
The incident involved 27-year-old Marissa Marciano from New Hampshire, who now finds herself facing serious charges under Florida’s Super Speeder statute. After being pulled over, she was transported to Brevard County Jail, facing the gravity of her reckless decisions. It’s just a stark illustration of how quickly a night out can escalate into a serious situation—one that not only endangers the driver and passengers but everyone else sharing the road.
In our community, this kind of behavior is simply unacceptable. We all enjoy the breathtaking views and exciting nightlife that Brevard has to offer, but it’s essential to prioritize safety over speed. Whether you’re heading to Cocoa Beach for some fun in the sun, or enjoying an evening out in Melbourne, responsible driving is a shared responsibility that keeps our roads safe for families and friends.
