Heads Up for Melbourne Residents: Early Morning Lane Closure on Eau Gallie Boulevard
Hey there, Space Coast neighbors! If you’re planning to be out and about in Melbourne early on Wednesday, April 1, you might want to adjust your travel plans just a bit. The City of Melbourne’s Public Works and Utilities Department is set to close the outside eastbound lane of Eau Gallie Boulevard, also known as SR 518, between U.S. 1 and Water Street. This necessary maintenance is all about making a sewer pipe connection, something we all rely on for our everyday conveniences.
The closure will start bright and early at 2 a.m. and will wrap up by 5 a.m. The timing is strategic to minimize disruptions during the day, so kudos to the city for considering our busy schedules! While the work is happening, crews will put in place traffic management measures to keep things flowing smoothly around the work zone in accordance with FDOT Index 102-613. It’s always a good idea to keep an eye out for detours and signage in the area, especially if you’re used to that route.
Now, we know that roadwork can be a bit of a hassle. But it’s a vital part of keeping our community running smoothly—literally! Whether you’re commuting to work, heading to a morning surf session at Cocoa Beach, or just grabbing a coffee in town, understanding these changes can make your journey a whole lot easier. If you have questions or concerns about the lane closure, feel free to reach out to Butch Burke with the Public Works department at (321) 608-5172.
So, Space Coast, let’s keep the wheels turning smoothly! And remember, early birds might catch less traffic while crews do their important work. Make sure to plan ahead, and you’ll be gliding along without a hitch. As always, your local news team is here to keep you updated on anything that might affect your daily routine.
