🚨 Traffic Alert for Cocoa Beach Air Show Weekend! 🚨

Hey, Space Coast neighbors! As we gear up for one of the most thrilling weekends of the year—the Cocoa Beach Air Show on April 11th and 12th—it’s important to keep a few things in mind to ensure a smooth experience. With the excitement of dazzling aerial displays right in our backyard, we also need to prepare for a significant influx of visitors. So, if you’re hoping to enjoy the show, let’s get you prepped!

The Cocoa Beach Police Department has issued a heads-up for all of us in Brevard County. Plan for major traffic congestion around key spots like Lori Wilson Park and other beach access points. If you’re traveling on A1A or State Road 520, you might want to leave your house a bit earlier. Expect peak traffic between 9 AM and 1 PM, just when everyone’s eager to catch those fighter jets soaring overhead!

Finding parking could also be a challenge during the show, so think ahead. Arriving early will be your best bet, as spaces will fill up fast. And a friendly reminder: illegal parking will be strictly enforced, so make sure to park responsibly or risk fines and towing. No one wants that kind of headache on a fun-filled weekend!

As you enjoy the air show, keep in mind that there will be heavy pedestrian traffic and controlled crosswalks. It’s bustling out there! Make sure to keep an eye on the little ones, especially in those crowded areas—having a meeting spot in case anyone gets separated could save a lot of worry. And let’s not forget to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen as we soak in both the sun and the spectacular aerial acrobatics.

If you’re a boater enjoying the Banana River during the event, exercise extra caution. Expect more water traffic than usual, and keep an eye on those navigation rules. The Cocoa Beach Police will have full staffing over the weekend, so you’ll be in good hands. All in all, planning ahead is key to making this a safe and enjoyable air show for everyone in our beautiful Space Coast community!
