Gardner was found with three cell phones and a cross-body bag containing roughly $30,000 in Bahamian cash, which interestingly enough, had the name of a Bahamian politician handwritten on it. This caught the eye of federal prosecutors, who quickly linked him to a larger drug trafficking operation involving cocaine.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Gardner allegedly has connections to an international narcotics ring that has been operating since at least early 2023. They claim he was involved in a conspiracy to import over a staggering 900 kilograms of cocaine from Colombia, with the illicit cargo planned for delivery in the Bahamas.
