While all 11 adults aboard, including the pilot, were thankfully rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard and Air Force, one of the passengers, Jonathan Gardiner, found himself in a heap of trouble. He was arrested on cocaine smuggling charges, marking a serious turn in an already dramatic situation.
According to the charges, Gardiner, who also goes by “Player,” is accused of being involved in an ongoing conspiracy to import cocaine since earlier this year. When he was rescued, authorities found him with a brown bag containing a whopping $30,000 in Bahamian cash—money that reportedly had links to a politician previously tied to a large cocaine shipment from Colombia.
