Community Rallies for Tiny Turtle After Fire in Cocoa Beach
Cocoa Beach has always been known for its sense of community, and that spirit was on full display just hours after a fire damaged the beloved Tiny Turtle restaurant. This local hotspot, cherished by many Brevard County residents, faced a tough day, but the strong response from supporters shows just how much love the community has for Kelly and Mo, the dedicated owners of Tiny Turtle. It’s a reminder that when one of our own stumbles, we’re all ready to lend a hand.
Local musician Matt Riley didn’t hesitate to step up, sharing that he donated all of his tips from a recent performance at Grounds and Grapes to help the family get back on their feet. “I’ve known Kelly and Mo since my son was in kindergarten,” Riley shared. “They’re just pillars in this town.” Such camaraderie is what makes Brevard County special, where friendships go beyond personal connections and extend into deep community ties.
With the fire that damaged the restaurant’s tiki roof, it was heartwarming to see locals gather at Grounds and Grapes not just for food and drinks, but to rally together for a cause. Marissa, the general manager of neighboring The Alleyway, noted how the local businesses come alive in times of need. “We all support each other. We eat at each other’s places; we share in the good times and the tough ones,” she said, emphasizing the close-knit nature of the Cocoa Beach business scene.
What truly reflects the spirit of the Tiny Turtle owners came just moments after the fire. As firefighters battled the flames, Kelly and Mo posted on social media, inviting the community to come by and grab food to prevent it from going to waste. “Even on what must have been the worst day of their lives, they were still thinking of others,” Riley added. It’s this selflessness, even in adversity, that has ignited a ripple of support throughout Brevard County, encouraging everyone to pitch in and lend a helping hand.
