Hey, Space Coast family! Get ready to feel the heat today, as we’re expecting a scorcher here in Brevard County with afternoon temps soaring into the mid-90s. Yes, you read that right! The “feels like” temperature is set to push past the 100-degree mark, making it a sticky day for everyone in Melbourne, Cocoa Beach, and beyond.
Our very own FOX 35 meteorologist Jessica Dobson is keeping an eye on things and reports that we should also brace ourselves for some heavy coastal showers and thunderstorms rolling in starting around noon. This means you might want to grab your umbrella before heading out! With rain amounts forecasted to reach up to three inches in some areas, we could see some localized flash flooding, particularly in low-lying spots.
For those of you planning outdoor activities—like a beach day in Cape Canaveral or a stroll in Viera—it’s important to stay updated. As those summer storms sweep in, you may want to have a backup plan just in case Mother Nature decides to drench our sunny paradise. Perhaps pop into a local cafe or shop while you wait out the rain!
Don’t forget to stay hydrated, folks! With this kind of heat, it’s easy to underestimate how much water our bodies need. Keep your cool by drinking plenty of fluids and take breaks in shady or air-conditioned areas if you’re outside.
As we all navigate this steamy Monday, let’s keep an eye on the skies and be mindful of our neighbors, too. We’re all in this together, Space Coast! What do you think, Space Coast? Drop your thoughts below.
