Local Influencer Charged After Disturbing Incident in the Everglades
Hey there, Space Coast! We often hear about wild encounters in our beautiful Florida landscapes, but a recent event has stirred quite the controversy. Braden Eric Peters, a 20-year-old self-proclaimed “looksmaxxing” influencer known online as ‘Clavicular,’ has landed in hot water for allegedly firing a gun at an alligator while livestreaming from the Everglades. Just when we thought we’d seen it all, right?
This jaw-dropping incident occurred on March 26 at the Francis S. Taylor Everglades Wildlife Management Area. Peters, along with his friends Andrew Morales, 22 (who goes by ‘Cuban Tarzan’), and 27-year-old Yabdiel Anibal Cotto Torres, were cruising the waters and decided to take aim at an alligator with handguns—while broadcasting it live to their followers. The video quickly spread across social media, causing an uproar among locals and wildlife advocates alike. Talk about a risky way to gain attention!
In response to the incident, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) launched an investigation, piecing together the shocking video evidence. So far, they haven’t confirmed if the alligator was injured or killed during the appalling display, but it surely has raised a lot of eyebrows. Following this incident, summons were issued for misdemeanor charges against the trio, highlighting the danger of mixing social media stunts with wildlife encounters.
Peters’ legal team claims that he was just following the guidance of a licensed airboat guide and insists that “no animals or people were harmed.” Morales’ attorney echoes similar sentiments, stating there’s no proof that any animal was actually hurt during their escapade. Still, allowing such behavior to unfold in our treasured natural spaces is concerning for many Brevard residents.
In the digital age, actions are often amplified online, and sometimes for the wrong reasons. Peters has faced trouble in the past, including a separate battery charge in Fort Lauderdale. With YouTube already shutting down his original channel for violating policies, it seems this influencer’s antics may lead to more than just a hurt pride. What does this mean for social media influencers in our own Space Coast community?
