Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Eastern Brevard County
Hey Space Coast! If you’re in Cocoa Beach or Satellite Beach, you might want to brace yourselves. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has just been issued for our part of Brevard County, lasting until 5:45 PM. We know how unpredictable Florida weather can be, and this one is no exception. With thunderstorms moving in from the east at about 15 mph, it’s the right time to make sure you and your loved ones are prepared.
The thunderstorms are packing quite a punch, bringing winds that could exceed 50 mph, along with intense lightning and the possibility of small hail. If you’ve got any outdoor plans, it’s probably best to take a rain check. Safety should always come first. So, whether you’re planning a beach day or simply heading home from work, make sure to stay safe!
And just in case you missed it, the severe weather isn’t just hitting eastern Brevard. There are warnings in effect for Melbourne and Palm Bay until 5:30 PM as well. The storms seem to be moving east at a slightly faster clip of 25 mph. It’s shaping up to be an electrically charged evening around here! So, keep your eyes to the sky and listen for any updates that may come through.
What’s more, these storms are part of a larger pattern affecting all of Central Florida. Strong-to-severe thunderstorm activity remains possible throughout the evening, which means we all need to stay alert. It’s a good reminder that while we love our sunny days, Florida’s summer storms can arrive suddenly and with intensity. Make sure you’re prepared at home and in your car!
