If you’re looking for a dose of culture right here on the Space Coast, you’re in for a treat! The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra (SCSO) is kicking off an exciting run-up to its 18th performing season with a fun-filled party and a delightful concert. Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 3rd, because you won’t want to miss this unique opportunity to blend socializing with spectacular music!
The festivities will begin at Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach at 3:30 p.m., where you’ll get a chance to engage with SCSO conductor Aaron Collins and orchestra members. This Season Announcement Party will not only unveil the exhilarating programming for 2026-27, but it also offers a chance to renew your season passes and secure your favorite concert seats. Afterward, swing right into the free concert starting at 5 p.m. titled The Music Between Us: From Habanera to Hollywood. It’s a beautiful journey through music that features the talented soprano Tesia Kwarteng alongside pianist Jacob Craig.
This concert promises to be a delightful mix of classical elegance and Broadway flair, including favorites like Bizet’s “Habanera,” the charming “Fly Me to the Moon,” and Gershwin’s “Love Is Here to Stay.” Tesia Kwarteng, celebrated for her versatile talents, makes her return to the Space Coast, and she’s ready to enthrall you with her vocal prowess. Fun fact: she recently showcased her talents at the 76th Annual Tony Awards and has performed notably at venues like The Kennedy Center. She is exemplary in her commitment to bridging genres, embodying everything from opera to pop.
What’s even better? Admission to The Music Between Us is free, with a suggested $20 donation to help cover the costs of these wonderful community concerts. Local residents aged 18 and under, as well as college students with a valid ID, can attend all SCSO performances without charge, thanks to the orchestra’s unique “Symphony for Everyone” ticketing program. This commitment to accessibility makes cultural experiences more attainable for everyone in Brevard County.
