38th Annual All Veterans Reunion Kicks Off in Melbourne
For almost four decades, Brevard County has embraced the spirit of camaraderie and gratitude through a beloved tradition: the Annual All Veterans Reunion. This year, the 38th celebration is taking place at Wickham Park in Melbourne from May 7 to 10, wrapping up a heartfelt series of events. On Monday, the festivities kicked off with a moving wreath-laying ceremony, followed by the much-anticipated Opening Ceremonies, setting the tone for this community-wide gathering.
Recognized as one of the largest and longest-running veterans’ reunions in the nation, this event, organized by Veterans Memorial Reunion Inc., not only honors those who served but also invites the entire community to join in the celebration. Whether you’re a veteran eager to reconnect with old friends or a local resident wishing to show your appreciation, there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
At the heart of the reunion is the powerful Memorial Wall segment, featuring the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall and “Some Gave All – The Moving Tribute.” These poignant displays serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by service members, offering a space for reflection amidst the celebration’s lively atmosphere. Just days before the opening, a ceremonial motorcade escorted the monuments to Wickham Park, turning the park into a tribute space filled with shared memories.
Of course, this event isn’t just about remembrance—it’s a vibrant festival that embodies the spirit of our Space Coast community! Throughout the weekend, families can enjoy live music, tantalizing local food trucks, and an engaging vendor marketplace. And for those seeking professional opportunities, a Job Fair on Thursday will connect veterans and community members with local employers. First responders will also be honored, underscoring their essential role in our communities.
Admission to the reunion is free, making it an accessible outing for all. Just remember, coolers, glass containers, and pets are not allowed in the event area. So, gather your friends and family, and come share in the gratitude and celebration of our heroes who served, as well as the community that stands united with them. What do you think, Space Coast?
