Exciting Developments on Cocoa Beach: A Lavish New Resort on the Horizon
If you’ve driven down Atlantic Avenue lately, you’ve probably noticed some serious construction happening at the site of the old International Palms Resort. The buzz around Brevard County is palpable as we await the arrival of the new Westin Cocoa Beach Resort & Spa. With a hefty investment of $420 million, this stunning 502-room resort is set to redefine the Cocoa Beach experience when it opens its doors in the second quarter of 2027.
A Design Inspired by Our Space Coast Culture
What makes this project particularly special is its unique design, which pulls inspiration from both NASA’s storied space program and our vibrant local surf culture. Designed by Gensler, the resort will seamlessly blend curving forms and warm textures to create a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the beauty of the Space Coast. With visual experiences that stretch from a highway-facing facade to a lush beachfront courtyard, it’s hard not to get excited about what this new addition will bring to our community.
On a sprawling 15.7-acre oceanfront site, you can expect to find a feast of amenities. Imagine indulging in meals at 11 different dining venues, relaxing at a full-service spa, or making a splash in a surf wave pool! Whether you prefer tennis or pickleball, enjoy a relaxing dip in one of the pools, or want to hit the fitness center, there will be something for everyone. Plus, for those looking to host meetings or events, the resort boasts an impressive 123,000 square feet of combined indoor and outdoor space. Talk about elevating Cocoa Beach as a premier destination!
Keeping the Build on Track
Construction is already making significant strides, with the south tower having topped out. Work continues throughout the property, ensuring we’re on track for a grand opening. Major players like Kast Construction and Baker Construction are on site, ensuring that everything is executed to the highest standards. From structural work to decorative metal features, it’s clear a lot of care is being put into making this resort a local landmark.
To sweeten the deal for ocean lovers, Martin Aquatic will be overseeing a range of water features, including the main pool and entryway fountains. And with a focus on sustainability, CMTA, Inc. is leading the engineering to ensure this resort remains eco-friendly. Once it’s completed, Driftwood Hospitality Management will take over operations, guaranteeing that your local escape will be both luxurious and inviting.
