Melbourne Man Arrested in Alarming Human Trafficking Case

A Melbourne resident has recently been arrested in a chilling human trafficking investigation, shining a light on an issue that sadly touches communities everywhere, including Brevard County. Sheriff Wayne Ivey announced the arrest of 26-year-old Antonio Granados, who is facing serious charges for trafficking a teenage girl.
The investigation kicked off in early April when a school resource deputy was approached by the victim’s mother, expressing serious concerns about her daughter’s safety. This troubling case shows how vital it is for neighbors and community members to keep an eye out for one another. The victim, whose bravery in coming forward is commendable, shared with authorities that she had met Granados through a mutual acquaintance. What started as what seemed like a friendship quickly turned into a nightmare, as Granados allegedly manipulated and controlled her life.
According to Sheriff Ivey, Granados set up a camera in the victim’s bedroom to keep tabs on her. This invasive and controlling behavior escalated, leading to a disturbing dynamic where Granados coerced her into sexual acts with dozens of individuals. Granados’ alleged actions are particularly shocking given the role of one of his clients—a corrections deputy named Dashawn Edward, who has also been arrested for engaging in sexual acts with the victim. Law enforcement is taking this matter seriously, with Sheriff Ivey stating, “There’s only one place for someone who commits human trafficking, and that is the gates of Hell!”
